Duties Description •Answer door following safety protocols. Use door buzzer to let authorized persons in.
•Use Pitney Bowes mail machine to process postage for outgoing mail by weighing and determining price of postage and applying to outgoing mail.
•Receive incoming mail and distribute into the program mailboxes.
•Receive incoming packages from delivery services.
•Notify programs packages have arrived that need to the picked up.
•Ensure supplies in the mail room are kept at adequate levels – request monthly refill order.
•Send courier mail to Albany and record in proper book.
•Assist in processing canvass letters by addressing as necessary, folding, stuffing and putting postage on envelopes to send to potential candidates.
•Create Word documents and Excel spreadsheets as required.
•Order DEC branded envelopes for supply room as required.
•Order mailing supplies as required.
•Assist with Events – SEFA, Blood Donations, Book Drives, Vaccine Clinics - to support the Agency
•Assist other Programs with OA 1 tasks as requested
•Assist at the Reception Desk, when necessary, by providing all day and/or lunch relief; welcome visitors; maintain the visitor log; ensure visitors are directed to correct location using the department directory
•Receive, screen, review, and verify FOIL request forms received in person or through the GovQA website
•Scan documents and create electronic files following Program-specific guidelines
•Shred documents as needed.
•General office support.
Minimum Qualifications There are no minimum education or experience requirements for this title.
Candidates may also be appointed via the following:
Reassignment - Currently in the title and an employee of DEC.
or
Reinstatement Eligible - Previously held the title on a permanent competitive basis or held a title as indicated under the transfer eligible section on a permanent competitive basis.
or
Transfer Eligible - One year of permanent competitive service at Salary Grade 4 or higher and eligible to transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Additional Comments This is a hourly appointment currently funded through 3/31/2026, with a likelihood of continuing beyond that date. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date.
