Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Speech Pathologist 1: Must have a Master's degree in speech pathology which meets the requirements for New York State licensure as a Speech Pathologist. These are the same as ASHA requirements for entrance into a Clinical Fellowship Year. After one year of satisfactory experience as a Speech Language Pathologist 1 AND upon possession of either a New York State license or certification of clinical competency by the American Speech and Hearing Association, you will be advanced to Speech Language Pathologist 2 without further examination.
Speech Pathologist 2: One year of post-Master's degree experience as a Speech Pathologist and either a NYS Licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist or ASHA certification in Speech Language Pathology.
This experience is NOT in addition to the experience required for licensure or certification. However, you must have had one full calendar year of experience rather than the 9 months of experience required for licensure or certification.
Duties Description CNY DDSO is recruiting for a Licensed or ASHA certified Speech-Language Pathologist.
As services are provided on a referral basis, travel within some of the 8 counties of the DDSO (Cayuga, Cortland, Herkimer, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego Counties) is expected. Mileage is compensated per Office of State Comptroller rules and regulations.
As a Speech Language Pathologist, you would participate in a broad range of experiences dealing with the communication and swallowing disorders of the individuals that we serve. You would provide clinical services upon referral and communicate findings to multi-disciplinary treatment teams. In all cases, you will apply your skills and techniques to meet the specific needs of our individuals. In addition, you will provide consultant services for treatment programming and evaluation, and provide training for paraprofessional staff and direct care staff. You will periodically review the performance of subordinate staff members and suggest corrective measure when performance inadequacies or deficiencies are identified.
Additional Comments Public Service Loan Forgiveness: If you are employed by state government you may be able to receive loan forgiveness under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF). The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments have been made under a qualifying repayment plan while working full-time for a qualifying employer.
