This position is designated administrative under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law and may be filled by administrative transfer under that section. The incumbent must have one year of permanent competitive service in a title M-2 or above designated “Administrative” under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law; titles including, but not limited to: Associate Attorney, Supervising Hearing Officer, UI Program Manager 2, UI Program Manager 3.
Duties Description Standard Duties:
As the Assistant Director, Unemployment Insurance Adjudication Services, you would be responsible for administering the day-to-day operations and activities of the Adjudication Services Office (ASO) for the downstate offices and coordinating the processing of hearing requests statewide with the Upstate ASO Assistant Director. You would coordinate with the Director for Adjudication and Determination and the Assistant Director Adjudication Services upstate office in formulating and developing policies, procedures, standards and guidelines, overseeing and coordinating ASO operations to assure uniform compliance of policies and procedures; overseeing the review of overruled determinations and the preparation of appeals; overseeing the drafting and implementation of legal and policy guidance to UI staff; exercising oversight and administrative responsibilities over ASO sections. You will act as a liaison between ASO and other operating sections of the Department, outside agencies, employer and benefit claimant groups, and business and civic groups; oversee and ensure the implementation of comprehensive training on new policies and procedures; supervise the staffing of offices and the evaluation of subordinate staff; and assist the Director of ASO in implementing new initiatives and procedures for the office.
