Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be in title OR reachable on the Civil Service eligible list OR be eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 in a designated title determined by the New York State Department of Civil Service. Provisional appointment will be considered if there are no other eligible candidates. To be eligible for provisional appointment pending exam, candidates must:
For Psychology Assnt 3: You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position. Candidates must have a master's degree in psychology in one of the following disciplines: clinical; or community; or counseling; or developmental; or forensic; or gerontological; or neuro; or rehabilitation; or school; or social.
For Psychologist 1: You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position. For qualified employees of New York State on or before the date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Psychology Assistant 3. For all other qualified individuals, candidates must have you must have a master of psychology degree from a regionally accredited college or university which prepares graduates for master's level psychologist positions in clinical or community mental health settings; AND the degree program must have included a psychology practicum or externship. You must indicate the practicum or externship on the open-competitive examination application (OC-APP) or attach an additional sheet if necessary.
For Psychologist 2: You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position. For qualified employees of New York State on or before the date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Psychologist 1. For Associate Psychologist: You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position. Candidates must have: A: an earned doctoral degree in a field of psychology, AND B: EITHER a one-year, full-time clinical internship or traineeship OR one year of psychology experience in a clinical setting, under the supervision of a licensed psychologist.

Duties Description PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
For (A) Psychology Assistant 3: Under the close supervision of higher-level psychology staff and as a member of a treatment team, assist in administering psychological tests and in conducting psychological evaluations and research. Also assist in the development of treatment plans, counsel individuals and assist in individual, and group therapy. Perform other duties as assigned.
For (B) Psychologist 1: Under the general supervision of higher-level psychology staff and as a member of a treatment team, perform psychological evaluations; develop and implement plans of treatment for individuals and groups; provide technical direction to program staff; maintain records; and write reports. Perform other duties as assigned.

For (C) Psychologist 2: Perform duties similar to those of a Psychologist 1, but handle more complex problems and situations and have greater responsibility and independence. You may also act as a supervisor to subordinate staff. Perform other duties as assigned.

For (D) Associate Psychologist: Function as an advanced clinician and provide professional psychological services under the clinical supervision of a Licensed Psychologist. In addition to assessment and treatment, duties may include: clinical leadership; program management; forensic or court-ordered assessment, treatment and expert testimony; psychological services requiring expertise, specialized assessment (functional, personality, risk, competency, vocational, education); design and application of behavioral technology and other specialized psychological interventions; individual, group or family therapy; crisis intervention, consultation; training and peer review
