Duties Description The New York State Department of Financial Services seeks to build an equitable, transparent, and resilient financial system that benefits individuals and supports business. The Department of Financial Services is seeking candidates for the position of Manager Information Technology Services 1 in the Technology Bureau. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Directs the day-to-day activities of the Salesforce development team across new development, legacy migration, and post-launch support workstreams;
• Leads the full software development lifecycle for Salesforce-based applications, from solution architecture and build through deployment and ongoing maintenance, ensuring delivery aligns with business needs and agency standards;
• Oversees Salesforce platform governance, including release management, environment strategy, and enforcement of coding and security best practices;
• Operates within the Agile and DevOps delivery framework established by leadership and the Project Management Office, contributing input into process decisions while ensuring consistent team execution; work closely with the Platform and Architecture teams who own CI/CD pipeline operations and overall Salesforce platform health, ensuring the development team adheres to established pipelines, testing standards, and source-driven development practices;
• Engages early in the project lifecycle to plan and facilitate a smooth transition from active development to post-launch maintenance, ensuring continuity of knowledge, documentation, and support readiness at go-live; and
• Mentor subordinate supervisors and technical staff and collaborate with stakeholders and leadership to maintain a Salesforce platform roadmap aligned with organizational goals.
Minimum Qualifications Appointment Method:
List Appointment: Candidates must be reachable on the Civil Service eligible list for 31288020.
Transfer: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive service in a title eligible for transfer via Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law. Information regarding transfer eligibility may be available on the Civil Service Career Mobility Office website.
Please note that under Civil Service Law, an employee cannot have two consecutive upward 70.1 or 52.6 transfers without an intervening eligible list appointment if such transfers would exceed two salary grades.
