Duties Description The Information Technology Specialist 2, S-18 will serve within the Chief Information Office's Network Operations Center (NOC). The Network Operations Center is responsible for all network circuits, equipment, and cabling for the Executive Branch, which includes critical health and public safety network connections 24x7x365. Duties include but not limited to:

-Monitors, triages, and troubleshoots break/fix issues;
-Collaborates with Tier III groups and vendors to obtain timely resolution of outages;
-Monitors and reacts to network maintenances including ITS, facilities, and vendors;
-Ensures that the network is performing as expected once maintenance has been completed; and
-During major outages (break/fix or maintenance) reports out on system conditions.

Minimum Qualifications One year of permanent competitive services as an Information Technology Specialist 2 OR in a position at G-16 or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law OR in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in advancement of more than two salary grades.

Candidates must be reachable on the current eligible list for this title in order to be list appointed.

Open Competitive: A bachelor's or higher-level degree including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science. OR A bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field and one year of experience in information technology; OR 60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science and one year of professional experience in information technology. OR Two years of professional experience in information technology.
