Duties Description The Special Prosecutor/Inspector General’s office at the New York State Justice Center is responsible for cooperating with and assisting District Attorney’s offices and law enforcement in investigating and prosecuting abuse and neglect of certain vulnerable individuals. The intern experience in SPIG will primarily focus on researching legal topics related to prosecution of abuse and neglect, preparing memos on those topics and assisting with presentations for both internal audiences and to outside law enforcement. The intern will work with SPIG attorneys and legal assistants to:

• Research issues related to investigating and prosecuting abuse and neglect of vulnerable individuals.
• Draft legal memorandum, if needed, on those issues.
• Assist with preparing presentations using PowerPoint and other presentation software
• Provide assistance to others by performing various legal and administrative tasks, including but not limited to: assisting in creating evidence packets, redacting documents, mailing, scanning, faxing, filing and copying. Assist with the creation, documentation and implementation of procedures and filing systems.
• Must be able to set own priorities and manage all deadlines in accordance with requested timeframes.
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times. Will receive confidentiality training as part of internship.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Preferred Standing: 2nd Year Law Student
Minimum Standing: Rising 2nd Year Law Student
