Salary RangeFrom $141581 to $178874 Annually
Duties Description Duties include but are not limited to:
• Developing, managing, and expanding the NYS TSRP Program as approved by the Deputy Commissioner for Traffic Safety and Field Investigations.
• Supervising two regional TSRPs.
• Coordinating, overseeing, and providing training, presentations, education, and support to traffic safety professionals and partners, including, but not limited to, prosecutors, members of law enforcement, judges.
• Collecting and distributing up-to-date publications, resources, and reference materials to our partners and incorporating same into trainings.
• Tracking all services provided by NYS’s TSRP Program and creating a method of evaluating their effectiveness.
• Collaborating with various agencies and organizations responsible for the collection of statistical data and using that information to focus trainings.
• Actively monitoring and participating in the national TSRP listserv and NYS’ vehicular prosecutors listserv.
• Working with all GTSC program areas to ensure that awareness and messaging are consistent with current laws and assisting with public participation activities where appropriate.
• Continually monitoring court decisions and new/proposed legislation that may impact vehicular crime cases and updating necessary parties of any relevant changes.
• Participating in the District Attorneys Association of the State of New York to inform on matters affecting the prosecution of traffic-related crimes.
• Collaborating with Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) in expanding and updating current traffic stop scenarios utilized in the Basic Training Course, focusing on best practices for civilian/peace officer encounters to ensure procedural justice, and creating real world scenarios, as outlined in NYS FFY 2025 Section 405(i) Driver and Officer Safety Education Grant Application.
• Collaborating with New York Prosecutors Training Institute, where possible, on training opportunities, legal updates, updates to Lethal Weapon Manual and DWI Trial Advocacy manuals, and other vehicular crimes updates and training materials.
Minimum Qualifications To be eligible for the Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor (TSRP) position, G-NS (equated to M-5), you must meet the following conditions as detailed below:
1. Admission to New York State Bar.
2. At least 10 years of prosecution experience, with the focus being on vehicular crimes.
Preferred Qualifications:
Highly motivated former vehicular crimes prosecutor with a passion for promoting roadway safety, that has prosecuted vehicular homicides and vehicular assault cases. Dynamic speaker/presenter with strong organizational and communication skills.
Additional Comments Hours of the position will be discussed at the time of interview, including questions regarding Flextime, AWS/Compressed Workweek and Telecommuting.
