Duties Description First line supervision to personnel in the CJIS Specialists 1 and 2 positions within the unit.
Retain in depth knowledge of the current version of the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy, including its technical, administrative, and operational security requirements.
Implement enterprise and CJIS information security policies and protocols to ensure customer agencies are complying with CJIS policies and standards as well as other mandatory regulations.
Serve as the primary State Administrator for IT security audits of New York State (NYS) agencies with access to FBI criminal justice information (CJI), utilizing the CJIS Audit application to conduct federally mandated biennial and triennial audits.
Assist with CJIS policy enforcement of compliance standards, policy and documentation updates, audits, and quality control.
Facilitate the periodic collection of supporting documentation from various NYS agencies for the continuous FBI IT Security Audit system as requested by the FBI CJIS Division Audit Unit.
Review reported cyber incidents, NYS ITS cybersecurity advisories, CISA advisories, etc. to help identify vulnerabilities in current NYSP technologies.
Maintain the NYSP software inventory system to help identify and track agency software that needs to be updated, patched, renewed, or decommissioned.
Perform research on new and existing technology that NYSP is considering for implementation and prepare requested deliverables by upper management.
Develop routine and ad hoc reports that provide meaningful insights to upper management, leveraging analysis of large datasets and research across a variety of topics.
Assist in providing training to outside NYS agencies regarding compliance with the latest version of the CJIS Security Policy, application usage, and other relevant policies.
Contribute to enhancing NYSP information security policies and procedures as technology changes and evolves.
Work on special projects as needed.
Managers may be expected to be available during off-shift hours to ensure the continuous operation of CJIS services.
Minimum Qualifications A bachelor’s degree or higher AND four years of related experience in one or more of the areas: cybersecurity, information security, business/systems analysis, data scientist, data analyst, computer scientist, database administrator, project management, networking, senior computer programmer, program design and program testing, application development, IT customer support and training.
OR
An associate degree and six years of related experience in one or more of the following areas: cybersecurity, information security, business/systems analysis, data scientist, data analyst, computer scientist, database administrator, project management, networking, senior computer programmer, program design and program testing, application development, IT customer support and training.
OR
Eight years of related experience in one or more of the following areas: cybersecurity, information security, business/systems analysis, data scientist, data analyst, computer scientist, database administrator, project management, networking, senior computer programmer, program design and program testing, application development, IT customer support and training.
Minimum qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
