Duties Description Duties will include but not be limited to:
• Overall supervision of the operation, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of power plant equipment; high voltage electrical distribution systems; steam, chilled water, and domestic water distribution systems; heating ventilating & air conditioning (HVAC) equipment, and auxiliaries.
• Ensure that all safety guidelines are followed.
• Make recommendations on major overhauls and replacement of equipment and identify, recommend, and develop energy conservation projects.
• Enforce comprehensive use of the Central Maintenance Management Software System (CMMS).
• Prepare and review estimates and make recommendations on projects.
• Perform a full range of supervisory duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Operational Needs:
• Possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted New York State motor vehicle operator’s license.
• Asbestos Supervisor certification required within 90 days of appointment as well as compliance with all related PESH/OSHA regulations.
• Utilities Management is a 24/7 operation; thus night, weekend, and holiday work is required based on shift assignment and operational need.
Minimum Qualifications Current New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service in a Plant Utilities Engineer 3 position and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
NOTE: IN ORDER TO AWARD THE PROPER CREDIT FOR WORK EXPERIENCE, RESUMES MUST INCLUDE MONTH AND YEAR FOR START AND END DATES. IF ANY OF THIS EXPERIENCE IS LESS THAN FULL TIME YOU MUST INDICATE THE AVERAGE NUMBER OF HOURS WORKED PER WEEK.
