Duties Description This position will be required to perform necessary functions for the Crown Point Maintenance Center buildings and grounds. Such duties will include:
-Daily monitoring/record keeping of vehicle use staff hours and job expenses.
-Communicate with supervisors and staff about issues/concerns and the correctiveness in a timely manner.
-Operation of a variety hand/power tools and motorized equipment, including self propelled and stationary machinery.
-Ensure that all motorized equipment is in good working condition.
-Assist in snow removal/salting, using shovels, plows, snowblower and Bobcat skid steer.
-Work on various crews with changing assignments daily.
- Keep written records of work performed and materials/labor used.
- Perform grounds and building maintenance year round including mowing, weed whacking, and trimming.
-Staining, painting, general laborer, carpentry, plumbing, electrical repairs at multiple facilities.
-Will be assigned unpleasant tasks with septic and garbage.
-Communicate with staff and supervisors about issues/concerns and the correctiveness in a timely manner.
-May be required to supervise one or more people in completing routine job assignments.
Minimum Qualifications One year of service as a Facility Operations Assistant 1 or Motor Vehicle Operator; OR, two years of full-time, verifiable experience in custodial, grounds, or maintenance operation or assisting in a journey-level trade. When required to operate motor vehicles, incumbents must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle being operated.
Preferred Qualification: Chainsaw certified with up to date First aid/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification.
Additional Comments This is a hourly appointment currently funded through 3/31/2027, with a likelihood of continuing beyond that date. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date.
Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.
Must be able to work in remote areas.
Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
Overtime may be required.
Weekends and holidays may be required.
Must be available for emergency response.
Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies.
Must provide 24-hour response on a rotational basis and work during normal business hours.
Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
