Duties Description As a Security Hospital Senior Treatment Assistant, in a secure forensic unit or hospital, you would supervise Security Hospital Treatment Assistants in the care and custody of a group of mentally ill patients considered potentially dangerous. You would provide assistance with psychiatric treatment and rehabilitation and basic nursing care. You would model acceptable behaviors and verbal skills, teach replacement behaviors, and implement treatment goals through positive therapeutic interactions with patients. You would lead or co-lead therapeutic activity groups, escort patients off grounds to appointments, provide 1:1 patient supervision, complete reports and documentation, constantly monitor patients, and provide for a safe and therapeutic environment. You will use verbal techniques to de-escalate situations and will use approved physical intervention techniques as a last resort to ensure the safety of patients and others. You would also assist in the application of restraint or seclusion. You would assist with personal hygiene and administering first aid, including monitoring vital signs and CPR.

Minimum Qualifications Qualifications Candidates must be reachable for appointment from the current Civil Service eligible list for the title;

OR

Be eligible for transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. To qualify for a Section 70.1 transfer, candidates must have at least one year of permanent status in a qualifying title approved for transfer by Civil Service, within two salary grades of the Grade 16 level.

Posted hiring rate includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for Council 82 Grade 16 ($68,285), Geographic Pay Differential ($6,000), and Downstate Adjustment ($4,000). The posted job rate is the sum of the statutory job rate ($83,830), Geographic Pay Differential ($6,000), and Downstate Adjustment ($4,000).
