Duties Description This clinical role provides key support to the Psychology Department and provides direct psychological/behavioral services, clinical consultation, and training to residential teams in the support of adults with developmental disabilities living in community settings. The Licensed Psychologist will provide individualized services to people who may have psychiatric symptoms or challenging behavior associated with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities and co-occurring psychiatric profiles. The Licensed Psychologist will provide oversight of MA-level psychologists and direct services for special populations, an aging population, and Article 16 Clinic clients. The Licensed Psychologist carries a caseload of 50-65 individuals, sees 6-10 people for ongoing psychotherapy through the Article 16 Clinic, and conducts 2-4 assessments per month, while also performing duties on committees and completing administrative tasks.
In addition to performing individualized clinical treatment, the Licensed Psychologist:
• Participates in the clinical leadership of the Psychology Department, providing support to the Chief Psychologist in designing and carrying out the department’s strategic vision in service of the agency mission
• Participates as a member of the Psychology Department, including regular meetings and workgroups
• Provides clinical supervision, training, and consultation to master’s-level psychologists, and provides coverage of caseloads, as needed
• Conducts Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) to inform Behavior Support Plans and designs other specialized psychological interventions for complex and behaviorally involved individuals; collects data and summarizes to inform behavioral interventions, participates in psychiatric consults; completes psychological evaluations as needed
• Assists in crisis intervention and support, including suicide/homicide risk assessment, conflict resolution, and critical incident debriefing
• Delivers treatment to people with forensic involvement, and may conduct forensic risk assessments or other court ordered assessments, treatment, or provides expert testimony
• Completes capacity and psychological evaluations, as needed; reviews and co-signs evaluations for master’s level psychology staff
• Completes clinical packets and presents cases to various review committees (Human Rights Committee; Informed Consent Committee; Local and Statewide Risk Committees) for approval and follows up on recommendations
• Participates as a member of an interdisciplinary team and provides expert clinical consultation and leadership as a key partner on the team
• Attends regular treatment team meetings for individual service plans, case reviews, and residential habilitation
• Provides on-site training and guidance to direct care staff and team members
• Participates in policy development workgroups and other special projects to further department and district goals
• Provides coverage for other counties in the Taconic catchment area
• Special assignments as directed

Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be licensed and currently registered by New York State as a Licensed Psychologist.

Additional Comments This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non-competitive appointment. This means that you do not need to take an exam to qualify, but you do need to meet the minimum qualifications of the title.

At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non-competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status. You will not have to take an exam to gain permanent competitive status.

• Posted Hiring Salary includes the sum of statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 25 ($96,336), Increased hiring rate ($25,077), Geographic Pay Differential ($20,000), and Mid-Hudson adjustment ($2,000). The Geographic Pay Differential and Mid-Hudson adjustment are also applied to the posted Job Rate ($121,413).

• If you are currently a New York State employee serving in a permanent competitive qualifying title and eligible for a transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law, you may be appointed to this title as a permanent competitive employee.

• The assignment of PS&T employees will be made in accordance with any agreed upon Memorandum of Understanding between PEF and the local DDSO regarding the posting of job vacancies.
