Duties Description The Research Scientist 3 will work within the Bureau of Data Analytics, Research, and Evaluation, Division of Family Health. The Research Scientist 3 will support infant health programs including reducing infant mortality initiative on data linkages, quality improvement, research, analytics, surveillance, reporting and evaluation. The Research Scientist 3 will also provide direction and supervision to staff.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in epidemiology, public health, biology, infection control, statistics/biostatistics, biomedical science, environmental health, environmental science or a closely related degree and four years of post-degree professional scientific research experience; or a Master’s degree in one of the above mentioned fields and three years of post-degree professional scientific research; or a Doctorate in one of the above mentioned fields and one year of post-degree professional scientific research.
Preferred Qualifications:Master's or doctoral degree in Epidemiology, Statistics/Biostatistics, Data Science, Public Health, Health Informatics, or a closely related Health Science degree. Proficiency in the use of large datasets, data analysis, statistical and qualitative software. Advanced proficiency in use of SAS BASE, SQL, MACRO, REPORT, or other related software tools. Experience in scientific research, public health surveillance or evaluation.
Additional Comments Permanent, full-time, non-competitive appointment.
This position may require travel throughout New York State including overnights to areas not served by public transportation.
