Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) Office of Performance Improvement and Management Services is seeking candidates for a Print Equipment Operator 2 position in the Office of Facilities and Business Services. This Office handles a variety of physically demanding, sub-journey level pre-press, post-press, and bindery tasks. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Independently operate offset printing machines requiring multiple steps in the printing process;
• Operate offset printing machines that demand close attention to detail;
• Produce finished print work that may involve several steps in formatting and processing orders;
• Train and guide lower-level operators and shop staff in printing and auxiliary functions;
• Keep accurate production and supply records;
• Operate digital print machines as assigned; and
• Assist in the basic operational and clerical tasks associated with running offset printing machines and auxiliary equipment.
Minimum Qualifications COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Non-Competitive Appointment: Candidates must have two years of offset printing equipment operating experience; OR one year of non-competitive service as a Print Equipment Operator 1.

Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a non-competitive permanent appointment Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Candidates should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits.
This position leads to a maximum salary of $52,413 based on annual performance advances. For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts
