Duties Description • Manage medium-sized and fairly complex new building construction projects and the rehabilitation and renovation projects for NYS Facilities.
• Assist higher-level staff in managing more complex building construction projects.
• Manage and monitor consultant contracts.
• Manage the request for design, construction, and professional services from other State agencies.
• Review and supervise consultant projects.
• Full range of supervisor duties.
• Some travel is required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS)* and applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications to be considered for this position:
Required Experience: Seven years of experience in multi-trade building construction that must include at least two years of managing multiple building construction projects. Experience managing multi-trade building construction projects shall include responsibility for three or more of the following areas:
• construction planning
• coordination of multiple trades
• cost estimating
• project scheduling
• material purchasing
• resource management (including labor, material, and equipment scheduling)
• construction document reading and interpretation (e.g. plans and specifications).
Substitution: An Associate degree in engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, engineering technology, construction technology, building science, or architectural technology may substitute for two years of the general experience. A bachelor's degree in the above fields may substitute for four years of the general experience.

Current New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service in a position allocated to a Grade 21 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

This position is graded and offers a salary range from the hiring rate to the job rate for its designated grade. All hires begin at “Start Rate” unless prior state experience affords eligibility for hiring step increase as determined by OSC.
