Duties Description Position Overview
Seeking a strategic, highly organized, and mission-driven Chief of Staff to lead operations across both her District Office and Albany legislative office. This full-time leadership role requires strong supervisory experience, a deep understanding of New York government, and a passion for public service and community empowerment.

The Chief of Staff will serve as the Assemblywoman’s principal advisor and operational lead, responsible for managing staff, coordinating legislative and district initiatives, and ensuring the office runs efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Office Oversight
Manage overall office operations and cross-functional initiatives
Implement protocols and procedures to ensure efficient work product
Delegate responsibilities and guide staff
Recommend staffing decisions and oversee day-to-day operations
Manage staff schedules, time sheets, and evening/weekend work cycles
Build strong internal relationships to improve responsiveness
Set strategic priorities with the Assemblywoman and track success metrics
Act as gatekeeper for the Assemblywoman’s time and engagements
Monitor organizational culture, staff well-being, and project statuses

Communications & Public Engagement
Draft press releases, media quotes, and official statements
Create and manage newsletters, flyers, and public-facing materials
Develop and execute social media strategies
Improve internal communications across the team
Represent the Assemblywoman at meetings and events
Share top-line notes and updates with staff

Legislative & Policy Support
Liaise with city/state agencies, elected officials, and advocacy groups
Track legislation and policy developments
Curate issue-focused programs, town halls, and commemorative events
Identify and address key community issues
Ensure the Assemblywoman is briefed and prepared for all engagements

Community & Constituent Relations
Serve as a point of contact for civic associations, schools, and community boards

Provide updates between the office and external organizations
Conduct outreach to maximize program attendance
Partner with community organizations to advance office priorities
Resolve district issues in collaboration with city agencies

Program Management & Evaluation
Support staff in implementing initiatives and managing programs
Define and track success metrics (e.g., event attendance, legislation passed)
Demonstrate innovative problem-solving and flag agency challenges

Additional Duties:
Distribute literature and materials at events
Perform other functions as directed by the Assemblywoman

Minimum Qualifications Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or policy experience preferred
Minimum 3–5 years of supervisory or management experience
Strong understanding of NYC/NYS government operations
Experience writing press releases, quotes, and newsletters
Proficiency in social media strategy and flyer creation
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
