Duties Description • Use appropriate software, documentation, and procedures to timely and accurately correct the exceptions for the annual business tax data files, miscellaneous tax data files and the Personal Income Tax (PIT) study file.
• Use appropriate software to balance work assignments, plan, organize and monitor progress to meet monthly goals and final deadlines.
• Use appropriate software, documentation and procedures to assign NAICS codes to business taxpayers.
• Manually data enter the Sales Tax NAICS codes into the eMPIRE system.
• Use appropriate software to timely and accurately update or create documentation (i.e., Tax Fill-in forms, etc.).
• Work on special projects and new tasks, as required, to meet both Tax Department and OTPA’s Operational Plan.
• Adhere to the Department's time and attendance rules and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).
For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.
Within a year of permanent appointment, it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class examination for which they are qualified.
NON-COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
There are no minimum education or experience requirements for these examinations.
Candidates may also be qualified for permanent competitive appointment if reachable from the appropriate Civil Service eligible list or eligible for reassignment or transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law.
