Duties Description The incumbent of this position will work in DMV'S Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee office in the Swan St Building in Albany. The successful applicant in this position will spend most of their work time performing mathematical operations, and/or clerical activities related to mathematical operations, in the service of agency or program functions, primarily as described in the illustrative duties listed below. These activities will include creating spreadsheets, using calculators, and other means of performing calculations. These activities also will include entering information into, offering basic interpretations of information within, or retrieving information from various computer databases, including the Statewide Financial System and/or Microsoft Access or similar computer database software package. The position’s duties may incorporate, but are not limited to, financial (including record-keeping, bookkeeping, and reconciliation activities), purchasing, or statistical functions.
The incumbent will supervise lower-level Office Assistants and perform the more complicated calculations work and is also expected to understand the activities of the program area within which they work in order to answer questions and explain or clarify procedures, and use independent judgment to make decisions and resolve problems.

Duties include the following:
-Perform account clerical audits for programs in which there are a large number and variety of transactions, verifications, checks, and computations, and where the written procedures are changed frequently.
-Review claims for payment from grantees for conformance with State and Federal rules. These claims for payment can be very complex and must be reviewed meticulously to ensure that they comply with all federal and state requirements as well as the approved spending of the grant, and must be reviewed and paid timely to prevent interest being owed due to the prompt payment law.
-Reconcile payment with grant budget.
-General office tasks (such as filing, answering unit phone, etc.)
-Supervise and oversee the processing of payments by two Office Assistant 2 or MVR positions.

Minimally, this job requires great attention to detail and accuracy in calculating vouchers as well as customer service skills used in corresponding and speaking with grantees.

Minimum Qualifications To be eligible for the Office Assistant 3 Calculations, G-14 position you must meet one of the following conditions as detailed below:

1. Eligible for appointment from the Office Assistant 3 Calculations, G-14 eligible list

2. In a G-12 or higher title that meets criteria for 70.1 or 52.6 transfer
