Duties Description This position will be located at the Hinckley Reservoir Day Use Area
Under the direction of the Facility Supervisor, Lifeguards shall be responsible for:
A. Performing assigned Lifeguarding Duties;
B. Understanding the rules and regulations which apply to DEC swimming areas
and assuring that the rules and regulations are observed by patrons using the
bathing facility;
C. Preventing accidents and performing rescues;
D. Maintaining a high level of physical and mental fitness by active participation in weekly EAP drills;
E. Prepare or assist in preparing written reports of all accidents and rescues;
F. Performing other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Two years of continuous seasonal service in the NYS Lifeguard title. Must be a returning employee who has worked an average of 240 hours in a combination of two fiscal years (at least 480 hours total).
Additional Comments This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with an anticipated end date of 9/3/2025. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date.
Weekends and holidays may be required.
