Workday
Duties Description The duties and responsibilities of the Receptionist include, but are not limited to:
• Serving as the first point-of-contact as the Receptionist for the Clay Pit Ponds Nature Interpretive Center, including answering telephones; taking and relaying messages; greeting staff, visitors, and patrons in a friendly and courteous manner; and utilizing a multi-line phone system.
• Performing office tasks such as data entry, filing, alphabetizing, copying, and other related tasks using computers, scanners, and other standard office equipment.
• Handling complaints or inquiries from park patrons regarding the quality of their experience, the cleanliness of facilities, noise from other facility users, and other customer service issues.
• Updating calendars and logs for front desk operations.
• Monitoring permits and permit calendar.
• Updating programing and event signage at the Nature Interpretive Center bulletin boards.
• Assisting with programing and event set up and strike.
• Keep inventory of supplies needed in the Nature Interpretive Center offices.
• Opening and closing the facility ensuring facility is secured prior to arming the alarm system.
• Performing general park and facility maintenance, including cleaning restrooms, sweeping, and dusting.
• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications NO MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS TITLE PER CIVIL SERVICE.
Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment. If not licensed at the time of appointment, the appointee must obtain a driver’s license without restrictions or conditions within the term of probation.
• Must be able to write and communicate proficiently in English. The ability to communicate in Spanish is helpful but not required.
• Prior business office experience and some college studies preferred.
• Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, work independently and set priorities as assigned by supervisor.
• Must possess strong interpersonal and communications skills.
• Must possess strong computer and spreadsheet skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
• Must be willing to support additional tasks and projects as assigned
• Must be willing to occasionally support tasks and projects at other New York State Parks’ work sites in the New York City Region.
