Duties Description Under the supervision of the Historic Site Manager and the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Aide will perform a range of maintenance duties at Johnson Hall State Historic Site. Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Perform building and ground maintenance and cleaning activities.
• Assist in performing semi-skilled maintenance and repair activities in a variety of trades such as painting, carpentry, and mechanical repairs.
• Assisting in grounds keeping equipment and performing general maintenance on commercial mowers, tractors, trimmers, and UTVs
• Participate in the general event set-up and take-down of tents, tables, chairs, and other necessary equipment as operationally needed.
• Performing other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
No minimum qualification per Civil Service.
Preferred Qualifications:
• previous experience and training in various semi-skilled trades, including basic carpentry, painting, and general mechanical maintenance.
Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age
• Basic computer skills
• Must possess strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently and in a team.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with other staff and park patrons in a responsible and courteous manner.
• Ability to perform medium to heavy physical labor, including medium-heavy lifting and using step ladders.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
