Minimum Qualifications Candidates must have:
1. An Associate’s Degree or 60 college semester hours and one year of work experience in customer service*
2. Or a High School diploma or GED and three years of work experience, one year of which must be in customer service*
*Customer service is defined as dealing with many different individuals on a continuous basis where verbal communication is the primary aspect for accomplishing the duties of the position. Qualifying experience may include call center agent, caseworker, customer service representative, sales representative providing information, or telemarketer. Non-qualifying experience includes cashier, fast-food worker, gas station attendant, or security guard.
Duties Description As a Senior Employment Security Clerk assigned to DEWS, you would greet customers at the reception desk, answer phones, and provide information to customers about Career Center services and assist in the Resource Room. You would also provide basic Unemployment Insurance information, use computer programs to look up customers and make decisions on service deliver as well as tracking customers’ attendance to appointment. You may occasionally type resumes or input data into the computer programs. You may occasionally assist customers in accessing UI benefits on-line.
Additional Comments Position specific job duties may include occasional altered work schedule or job assignments which require availability and willingness to work occasional evening and/or out-stationed assignments.
To be considered for appointment you will be required to pass a Civil Service language exam to demonstrate proficiency in speaking, writing, and reading Spanish at a level that will ensure your ability to perform the duties of the position.
