Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be current state employees and have a reachable score of 100 on the Office Assistant 1 list (For THE NEW EXAM THERE ARE OVER 700 NAMES AT THIS SCORE) or
Have a current permanent appointment with 1 year of service as a Office Assistant 1 or to a title eligible for transfer to Office Assistant 1 or
Appointment as Office Assistant 1 here at UAlbany, less than 1 year of service, (remainder of probationary period to be completed in new assignment) or
Be a former state employee eligible for reinstatement to the title of Office Assistant 1. May be filled from a mandatory reemployment list if one is in effect at time of appointment.
Duties Description
Provide audio and video equipment lending services to the University community; requires effective communication with library users, face-to-face, by phone and email; staff the IMC service point and answers basic questions regarding library and campus-wide services; assist users borrow and return equipment and room keys and locate materials in the stacks and other library locations; assist library users with basic searches in the library website or catalog; assist library users in the IMC with simple tasks such as printing and scanning; basic equipment maintenance; help supervisor instruct students in basic equipment transactions / maintenance; reserve rooms and equipment; provide basis support for audio and video equipment and technology available in library facilities as well as other basic office equipment (photocopiers, printers, microform machines, scanners); assist library users in using equipment; troubleshoot and resolve basic equipment and technology problems; monitor student use of IMC and surrounding areas; open/close floor/service desk as appropriate; basic routine maintenance on computers (routine updates, deleting files); shelve materials in the absence of students; assist supervisor to monitor student workers; maintain basic equipment inventory; assist with ordering equipment and replacement parts; maintain documentation in the department; interact effectively and in a professional manner with peers, supervisors, and other library staff, contribute to interpersonal and working relationships of trust and respect; maintain a courteous and professional manner while interacting with student assistants and library users
