Minimum Qualifications • Experienced in conducting criminal and particularly white collar crime fraud investigations within the state government context;
• Familiar with New York State and federal laws and agencies;
• Has experience working with prosecutors and is familiar with testifying in a court of law; and
• Has either worked for or with, significantly, law enforcement.
• A minimum of a four year college degree;
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written;
• Proficiency in understanding, distilling and organizing large amounts of data and information and clearly and concisely summarizing the information in a fashion compatible with the needs of an investigation; and
• Expertise in using data analysis, data mining and statistical software.
Duties Description Investigative Auditors are responsible for conducting confidential investigative and forensic audits and systemic reviews on behalf of OIG. In conjunction with Investigative Counsels and Investigators, Investigative Auditors interview witnesses, participate in surveillance operations and the execution of warrants, and may give sworn statements to prosecutors and/or testify in a court of law. Investigative Auditors are assigned cases in conjunction with the Investigative Unit, and works collaboratively with investigators and attorneys to investigate the allegations and report the findings. Investigative Auditors report to and receive direction from both the Supervising Investigative Auditor, and the regional Deputy Inspector Generals.
Develop and implement strategies for conducting proactive system reviews of State agency, authority, commission and/or related entity, policies and procedures;
Conduct reviews, from an audit standpoint, of suspected or alleged wrongdoing by employees and agents of the State;
Perform research and writing assignments, including draft findings and recommendations relating to systemic reviews and active investigations;
Attend meetings and conferences along with and on behalf of the Director and Assistant Director of Audit and Consulting; and
Perform other duties as assigned and required.
