Duties Description The Director of Digital Infrastructure Procurement serves as a senior strategic leader responsible for shaping and advancing the enterprise vision for procurement, and administrative shared services across the State University of New York (SUNY) system. This role operates at the intersection of strategy, innovation, and execution, driving system-wide modernization initiatives that position SUNY as a leader in digitally enabled, service-oriented public higher education.
As a key advisor and thought partner to procurement leadership, the Director of Digital Infrastructure Procurement provides progressive insight and strategic direction to accelerate operational excellence and long-term value creation. This role champions innovation in enterprise procurement and administrative services by identifying and aligning emerging technologies, reimagining business models, identifying opportunities for strategic collaboration, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement across System and its campuses.
The Digital Infrastructure Category Manager helps lead the strategic design and execution of SUNY's IT and digital infrastructure roadmap as it relates to procurement and shared services, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities. By leveraging data, advanced analytics, and modern platforms, this role drives the evolution of enterprise systems into integrated, intelligent, and scalable solutions that enhance decision-making and organizational agility.
In close partnership with campus leadership and cross-functional stakeholders, the Director of Digital Infrastructure Procurement acts as a catalyst for change, conceptualizing, piloting, and scaling innovative procurement strategies within the technology domain. This includes shaping policy frameworks, redesigning processes, and establishing performance metrics and key indicators that measure impact, optimize outcomes, and enable data-driven governance.
The Director of Digital Infrastructure Procurement ensures that enterprise procurement strategies, contracts, and operating models are not only effectively communicated and adopted, but also continuously refined to balance system-wide standardization with campus-level flexibility. Through this, the role drives alignment, strengthens compliance, and maximizes value realization across SUNY's diverse ecosystem.
With a strong emphasis on innovative leadership, the Director of Digital Infrastructure Procurement advances the shift from decentralized, transaction-oriented operations to a cohesive, digitally enabled enterprise model. This role is instrumental in embedding innovation, enhancing service delivery, and positioning procurement and administrative functions as strategic enablers of SUNY's long-term mission and impact.
Minimum Qualifications Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business or related field
7-10 years of experience in procurement management.
Change Management: Supports cultural adoption of new processes and systems.
Communication: Executive-level reporting and facilitation skills.
Strategic Insight: Ability to connect operational data with SUNY's financial goals.
Strong problem-solving skills, especially when dealing with complex operational or supplier issues.
Able to collaborate well with category management, contracting, systems, and finance teams.
Experience helping lead or support standardization or transformation efforts.
Ability to use spend, utilization, and performance data to support decision-making.
Additional Comments - Salary is dependent on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, training, and certifications. The range for this position is $140,000 - $175,000 annually.
