Duties Description As a Business Officer 1 at Rochester Psychiatric Center, you will perform, coordinate, and oversee business, fiscal, and support service activities.
Duties include:
• Conducting financial analyses and making recommendations based on findings.
• Identifying spending trends and preparing cost projections.
• Reviewing and tracking expenditures and assisting in budget requests.
• Monitoring inventory and reviewing/approving purchase requests.
• Overseeing contract and grant administration activities and procurement processes
Minimum Qualifications Are you interested in starting your accounting career with New York State? Rochester Psychiatric Center is recruiting for a Business Officer 1 who will work in their fiscal management department. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.
Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program as a Business Officer 1 if they have 6 years of professional experience in the administration of a business office or program, including responsibility for one or more of the following areas: accounting, budgeting, contract administration, and purchasing.
Substitution: An associate's degree can substitute for two years of specialized experience; a bachelor’s degree can substitute for four years of experience; a master’s degree in a related field can substitute for five years of experience; and a doctorate in a related field can substitute for six years of experience.
OR
Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program as a Business Officer Trainee 1 if they have 4 years of professional experience in the administration of a business office or program, including responsibility for one or more of the following areas: accounting, budgeting, contract administration, and purchasing.
Substitution: An associate's degree can substitute for two years of specialized experience; a bachelor’s degree can substitute for four years of experience; a master’s degree in a related field can substitute for five years of experience; and a doctorate in a related field can substitute for six years of experience.
To be advanced to the full performance level, Business Officer 1, you must successfully complete a 2-year traineeship.
OR
Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program as a Business Officer Trainee 2 if they have 5 years of professional experience in the administration of a business office or program, including responsibility for one or more of the following areas: accounting, budgeting, contract administration, and purchasing.
Substitution: An associate's degree can substitute for two years of specialized experience; a bachelor’s degree can substitute for four years of experience; a master’s degree in a related field can substitute for five years of experience; and a doctorate in a related field can substitute for six years of experience.
To be advanced to the full performance level, Business Officer 1, you must successfully complete 1 year of the traineeship.
OR
Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on a current Professional Career Opportunities (PCO) eligible list. Appointment from this eligible list would be as a Business Officer Trainee 1 and to be advanced to the full performance level, Business Officer 1, you must successfully complete a 2-year traineeship.
OR
Candidates within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on the Public Administration Traineeship Transition (PATT) eligible list. Appointment from this eligible list would be as a Business Officer Trainee 1 and to be advanced to the full performance level, Business Officer 1, you must successfully complete a 2-year traineeship.
OR
Candidates within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Salary range listed encompasses the hiring rate of a Business Officer 1/Trainee (SG-NS) through the job rate of a Business Officer 1 (SG-18).

Business Officer Trainee 2: $59,994
Business Officer 1: $66,951 - $85,138
