Duties Description The Bureau of Child and Adult Care Food Programs (CACFP) is a federally funded public health nutrition program which provides reimbursement for healthy meals and snacks served to children in family day care homes, day care centers, emergency shelters, afterschool programs and adults in other programs.

The Office Assistant 2 (Calculations) {OA 2 (Calc)} will perform administrative tasks associated with federally mandated program reviews and annual fiscal bank account audits. Responsibilities include preparing written correspondence for CACFP sponsoring organizations, tracking due dates and document submissions, filing documents, contacting sponsoring organizations for missing/incomplete documents. The OA 2 (Calc) will also prepare/send out final reports. Additionally, the OA 2 (Calc) will provide administrative support to facilitate bureau operations such as triaging phone calls, scheduling meetings and assisting with large mailings.

Minimum Qualifications Reassignment: Current NYS Department of Health employee with permanent or contingent permanent, competitive status as an Office Assistant 2 (Calculations), Grade 9.

Transfer: Current NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent permanent, competitive service in a position allocated to a Grade 7 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Promotion Provisional: Current NYS DOH employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent permanent, competitive or 55-b/c service in an office assistant, clerical, or keyboarding title allocated to Grade 6 or higher. NY HELPS: One year of experience where most work time is spent performing mathematical operations, and/or clerical activities related to mathematical operations.

Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will possess strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent organizational abilities, and the capacity to work independently in a fast-paced environment while effectively prioritizing multiple assignments. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word is required.

If three or fewer New York State Department of Health promotional candidates respond to this notice, the agency may, at its discretion, nominate a qualified employee for non-competitive promotion under the provisions of Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law. Employees must have one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service in qualifying titles as described on the last Civil Service promotion examination held for this title, #38-687. If certified by Civil Service, mandatory reemployment list candidates must be considered first for appointment to this title.
