Duties Description • Supervise multiple Senior Parking Services Attendants (SPSA).
• Evaluate need for effective signage throughout all OGS roadways and facilities in downtown Albany.
• Ensure proper documentation including reports are gathered in a timely manner in compliance with OGS policies and that upper management is notified.
• Process internal and Department of Motor Vehicles incident/accident reports.
• Coordinate special projects with other units within OGS for activities related to snow removal, grass cutting, garage wash down and garage sweeping/cleaning.
• Meet with contractors to obtain quotes for repairs and/or upgrades as needed.
• Manage Preventative Maintenance/Rehabilitation & Improvement (PM/R&I) projects for parking services and submits Tenant Alternation Requests (TAR) and Project Initiation Requests (PIR) as needed.
• Assist with the development of Request for Information (RFI), Request for Proposals (RFP) and monitors progress through OGS Finance.
• Perform, track and coordinate general maintenance to booths, gates, equipment and vehicles.
• Ensure patron lot safety including operational elevators, safety phones, blue lights and cameras.
• Develop and implement plans to minimize safety risks by working with State Police and other officials.
• Assist in communicating with and directing patrons to alternate parking locations as necessary as the result of construction or various maintenance activities.
• Perform a full range of supervisory duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Operational Needs:
Possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted NYS driver's license.

Minimum Qualifications This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS)* and applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications to be considered for this position:

Required experience: two years of experience supervising subordinate staff in the management of permit and cash parking operations of at least 1,500 spaces.

OR

Current New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service as a Parking Operations Supervisor 1 and interested in reinstatement.

NOTE: IN ORDER TO AWARD THE PROPER CREDIT FOR WORK EXPERIENCE, RESUMES MUST INCLUDE MONTH AND YEAR FOR START AND END DATES. IF ANY OF THIS EXPERIENCE IS LESS THAN FULL TIME YOU MUST INDICATE THE AVERAGE NUMBER OF HOURS WORKED PER WEEK.

*There is no examination required for appointment to a NY HELPS position. Candidates hired via NY HELPS will be appointed on a permanent non-competitive basis and will begin a probationary period.

At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected that NY HELPS employees will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to take an exam. Employees will then be afforded with all the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
