Duties Description The New York State Department of Financial Services seeks to build an equitable, transparent, and resilient financial system that benefits individuals and supports business. The Department of Financial Services is seeking candidates for the position of Program Aide in the Office of Financial Management. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Enters daily cash receipts and maintains familiarity with various regulations and sections of Insurance Law/Financial Services Law and the fees/taxes associated with each;
• Enters security fund cash receipts and maintains familiarity with various regulations and sections of Insurance Law and the fees/taxes associated with each;
• Reconciles cash receipts and maintains a working knowledge of reports; Detects errors and takes necessary step to correct them. Maintains a working knowledge of basic accounting principles and applies basic accounting skills in completing this task;
• Maintains company and excess line broker databases and tables in an accurate and timely manner;
• Assists with the opening, sorting, and distribution of bureau mail. Maintains a working knowledge of bureau personnel and assignments to distribute mail to appropriate staff;
• Performs general office duties, including but not limited to, answer telephones and assist callers, make photocopies, prepare documents for filing; and
• All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Preferred Qualifications
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office

List Appointment: Candidates must be reachable on the Civil Service eligible list for 00-528010.
Transfer: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive service in a title eligible for transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. Information regarding transfer eligibility may be available on the Civil Service Career Mobility Office website at http://careermobilityoffice.cs.ny.gov/cmo/.
Please Note that under Civil Service Law, an employee cannot have two consecutive upward 70.1 or 52.6 transfers without an intervening eligible list appointment if such transfers would exceed two salary grades.
