Duties Description • Under the direction of Senior Counselor, Camp Director, Cultural Manager and/or higher-level park operations staff, the Camp Counselor shall be required to provide a level of supervision that shall protect campers from any unreasonable risk to their health or safety, including physical or sexual abuse or any public health hazard. At a minimum there shall always exist visual or verbal communication capabilities between the camper and counselor during activities, an ability to always account for the camper’s whereabouts.
• The Counselor will work directly under the supervision of the Senior Camp Counselor. The Counselor’s specific duty is to directly interact with and ensure the safety of the campers during various activities throughout the program day.
• The Counselor will assist the Senior Counselor will all safety precautions at every site.
• The Counselor will be required to follow all agency guidelines and trainings.
Minimum Qualifications NO MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS TITLE PER CIVIL SERVICE.
*Candidates must produce two reference letters from associates and past employers, but no persons related to the applicant.
Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• The Counselor shall be at least 18 years of age and may include both specialty and general counseling.
• The counselor shall either have experience in camping and supervision of children or have completed a training course acceptable to the permit-issuing official.
• Candidates must pass screening against the State Sex Offenders Registry.
