Minimum Qualifications This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS)* and applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications to be considered for this position:
Applicants must possess one year of experience, with primary responsibility performing mathematical operations and/or clerical activities related to mathematical operations.
Applicants may also be appointed to this position if currently reachable on the appropriate eligible list for this title OR are a current New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service in a position allocated to a Grade 7 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Duties Description Incumbent will be assigned to the Business Services Center (BSC) Finance Office and will be responsible for processing transactions in one of the following service lines: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Travel, Purchasing, or Credit Card Administration services lines.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Processing vendor vouchers, travel expense reports or purchase orders for the agencies the BSC currently serves, in accordance with the applicable statewide and agency requirements.
• Auditing transactions, resolving problems with vendors, agencies or other parties, and entering transactions into Statewide Financial System with clear and concise documentation of each.
• Corresponding with various parties including vendors, customer agencies and other BSC staff.
• Consistently providing quality customer service to all BSC customers (i.e., vendors, customer agencies, state employees).
Additional Comments *There is no examination required for appointment to a NY HELPS position. Candidates hired before May 2024 will be appointed on a temporary basis. In May 2024, satisfactory employees will receive permanent, non-competitive appointments and will begin a probationary period.
At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected that NY HELPS employees will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to take an exam. Employees will then be afforded with all the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
