Minimum Qualifications Non-competitive: bachelor’s degree in data or computer science, informatics, economics, statistics, mathematics, healthcare administration, public health, or a related field, and either: satisfactory completion of a two-year traineeship or two years of experience* in data visualization, and statistical models and data mining tools

*Substitution: A master’s degree in the above fields may substitute for one year of the
specialized experience. A Ph.D. in the above fields may substitute for two years of the

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Insurance, Medicaid preferred, 1 year of SQL experience working with large datasets preferred

Duties Description Works with business units to develop and build models in support of analytic use cases; drafts technical requirements and data definitions; provides input on current approaches and recommends improvements to best achieve goals; reviews and suggests improvements to current or planned systems and processes; performs data extraction, aggregation, and quality checks from multiple sources and tables in support of trend identification and root cause analysis; summarizes results, creates written reports and collaborates with staff to develop business intelligence solutions

Additional Comments Working within the Data Distribution Unit, in the Bureau of Data Services and Analytics, in OHIP’s Division of Data Services and Analytics, the Data Analyst 1 will be responsible for the following duties:
• Performing data analytics related to CMS reporting and a wide array of other recurring reports, including populating, and updating the reports on a regular schedule, and also preparing visualizations on aspects of those reports, under the direction of the Data Analyst 2 and the Data Distribution Unit lead.
• Coordinating with Data Analyst 2 to collect program requirements, translate requirements to technical documentation, and compile methodology/code for new recurring reports.
• Assessing Medicaid data structures and how they can be used to produce CMS reporting and other standardized reports; researching new data sources and analytical tools, and recommending solutions.
• Responding to emerging priorities and follow up requests to recurring reports; maintaining scheduling for CMS reporting.
• Effectuating delivery methods for recurring reports, including determining access, scheduling updates; recommending delivery methods updates; and troubleshooting problems.
• Developing expertise in program areas, supported by recurring reports, and notifying Data Distribution lead of policy/program changes that could impact recurring reports.
• Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.
