Minimum Qualifications Preferred Qualifications:
The preferred qualifications for these temporary hourly positions are:
• Good computer skills.
• Customer service experience.
• Experience working in teams.
• Good communication skills – writing and verbal.

Duties Description Process claims submitted to the Office of Unclaimed Funds.
• Read and interpret correspondence and other documents submitted by claimants and interested parties.
• Identify and apply pertinent information to the item(s) being claimed and the claim as a whole.
• Search the Unclaimed Funds database using applicable search criteria.
• Gain and employ a thorough understanding of property types, account titles and the ability to accurately determine entitlement.
• Determine required documentation for the item(s) being claimed, as well as the type of claim, and if the claim requires special handling or work queue transitions.
• Recommend payments and complete the claim settlement process.
• Effectively utilize several computer systems simultaneously.
• Maintain the ability to work independently and demonstrate good decision-making skills.
• Consistently meet established production goals and accuracy standards.
Answer claimant inquiries by phone, email, and letters.
• Create well organized and accurate correspondence utilizing standard sentences and program specific knowledge and experience.
• Answer e-mail correspondence timely using the established format and appropriate responses.
• Assist customers by telephone concerning questions relating to OUF.

Telecommuting:
The Office of the New York State Comptroller (OSC) supports telecommuting where it is reasonable to do so based upon the agency’s mission and operational needs. Generally, employees new to OSC will be restricted from telecommuting for at least 8 calendar weeks. After the initial 8 calendar week restriction, if an employee’s duties and work performance are aligned with telecommuting they may be allowed to do so. Upon approval to telecommute, OSC employees may telecommute up to 5 days per pay period.

These positions may have Part-Time availability options with hours ranging from 20-40 Hours per week.
