Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications 30 semester credit hours, including 12 semester credit hours in fisheries, marine resources or wildlife management; mariculture; marine biology; aquaculture; aquatic, marine or terrestrial ecology; zoology; marine technology; botany; limnology; hydrology; or oceanography.

Duties Description Incumbent will assist in all aspects of wildlife diversity work being undertaken by Region 4 Schenectady. Primary job duties involve conducting surveys for New England cottontail and wintering hawks and owls and assisting with data entry and data summarization related to work on these and other bird-related projects. Assistance with live trapping for these species may be undertaken. Experience in the use of GPS, GIS and Excel, as well as the ability to identify habitat types from aerial photographs and identify birds by sight and sound is essential. This position involves travel from the office to study sites and will require long days and early morning or evening hours on occasion.

Additional Comments Must have valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain and/or work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel may be required. Overtime may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required.
