Job Specifics

Duties Description The position will assist the Visitor Center Event Coordinator with bookings in our Helderberg Room for wedding and event planning.

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Assist the Event Coordinator in callbacks, email correspondence, and answering questions regarding current and potential bookings, room showings/walkthroughs, and permitting processes.
• Work with the Event Coordinator to provide effective communication with the renters and office staff in the organization and logistics of the events.
• Assist with day of event support.
• Cover the front desk at the Thacher Visitor Center, including but not limited to answering phones, taking messages, answering general park inquiries, assisting with gift shop sales, and assisting with other areas as needed.

Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
No minimum qualifications per Civil Service.

Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• Must possess a valid NYS Driver’s License and may occasionally operate a park vehicle or utility vehicle
• Candidate must possess strong customer service skills.
• Must demonstrate an ability to work independently.
• Must be able to climb stairs and stand for extended periods of time.
• Must possess the ability to perform medium to heavy physical labor and to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively in writing and read and comprehend written material.
• Must be available to work a flexible schedule to assist in covering events.
• Must have experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Flexibility in scheduling and work assignments is required.
