Job Specifics

Duties Description Under direct supervision of the Health and Safety Manager, the incumbent will perform a variety of administrative tasks within the Health and Safety department, in the Taconic Region. Tasks to include, but are not limited to:

• Data entry in several systems, inventory of all safety related equipment, monitoring and ordering regional PPE and other H&S items such as: AED pads, batteries, etc.,
• Data input for all inspections, including risk tree assessment, beach, playground, and facility maintenance areas.
• Data entry for Accident Reporting System (ARS) and Worker’s Compensation reporting.
• Oversee the regional boot and high-vis jacket program.
• Schedule, coordinate and track EHS (Employee Health Services) appointments for all appropriate regional staff.
• Participate in or attend career/job fairs for recruitment, assisting with all aspects of annual lifeguard qualifiers, conducting inspections of facility maintenance shops, and playgrounds.
• Involvement with regional safety committee meetings.

Minimum Qualifications There are no minimum qualifications per Civil Service.

Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• Must possess and maintain a valid New York State Driver’s License as a term and condition of employment.
• Must be able to follow written direction, record and document required information and communicate effectively.
• Must have good computer skills, including Microsoft Suite.
• Must have general knowledge of good safety practices.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with staff and park patrons.
• Must be able to administer trainings to staff when necessary.
• Must have good organizational skills, accuracy, and ability to multi-task.
• Must be able to maintain a strict level of confidentiality & demonstrate the ability to use good judgement.
• Must have basic computer knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and Adobe Pro.
• Incumbent is encouraged to enroll in OSHA trainings to expand knowledge base in safety & health.
