Job Specifics

Duties Description ITS provides operational support to state agencies on a 24x7x365 basis; some positions may be required to provide this critical service at any time.

Under the direction of the Manager Information Services, SG-NS, the Assistant Director Information Technology 1, M-4, will be the Director of Client Engagement and Operations and will report directly to the Deputy Commissioner for Technology (DCT) within the Office of Information Technology Services, Dedicated Support Division, Worker’s Compensation Board Section.
Specific duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
• Support the DCT in developing and executing the ITS strategic vision in alignment with the NYS CIO.
• Collaborate and interface with Executive Leadership and Deputy Commissioners of Technology on new Agency needs.
• Transform Agency business opportunities into successful proposals in collaboration with Product Owner.
• Develop and secure Letters of Intent (LOI) and Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) to support cost recovery strategies for ITS.
• Assist the DCT with strategies for budgetary management, project burndown plans and ITS billing policies.
• Oversee the Personal Compute, Quality Assurance, and Information Security staff to ensure delivery of these services in a timely manner in compliance with ITS policy.
• Configure, assign, and monitor priorities, schedules, assignments, workloads, and staffing levels to ensure peak operational efficiency. Ensure teams have the tools and bandwidth necessary to complete assigned functions.
• Resolve complex issues, act as a point of escalation for internal-facing and citizen-facing applications.
• Produce executive-level reports for ITS leadership and WCB executives outlining strategic insights and key performance indicators.
• Contribute crucial technical and in-depth business knowledge as senior subject matter expert.
• Play an active role in staff development through assignments, training, guidance, and mentoring.
• Perform the full range of managerial and supervisory duties.

Minimum Qualifications Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Assistant Director Information Technology Services 1 OR in a position at M-3 or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in advancement of more than one M-grade or two salary grades.

Additional Comments ITS will not offer permanent employment to any candidate unless the candidate provides documentation that they are authorized to accept work in the United States on a permanent basis. It is the policy of ITS not to hire F1 or H1 visa holders for permanent employment or to sponsor non-immigrant aliens for temporary work authorization visas or for permanent residence.

Some positions may require fingerprinting.

If eligible, positions located in New York City will receive an additional $3,400 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $1,650 adjustment location pay.
