Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Currently serving as a DDPS 2 and eligible for transfer OR
• Reachable on the Civil Service List for DDPS 2 OR
• One year in a permanent title eligible for 70.1 transfer per Civil Service Rules and Regulations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR PROVISIONAL APPOINTMENT:
• Must be a qualified employee of the NYS Office for People with Developmental Disabilities and have had one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Developmental Disabilities Program Specialist 1 or Developmental Disabilities Program Specialist 1 (Spanish Language).
Duties Description PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision of a Principal Psychologist, the DDPS 2 will be responsible for the following tasks and responsibilities:
• Provides leadership and actively participates in all functions performed by the Crisis Unit, including staff supervision;
• Works with high level hospital staff, school administrators, law enforcement, Adult Protective Services, Child Protective Services, Office of Mental Health (OMH), and other stakeholders that may be involved in addressing crisis situations;
• Visiting individuals and families in crisis may be required;
• Regularly consults with Counsel's Office;
• Leads and participates in weekly Crisis Committee Meetings and bi-weekly Crisis Coalition Meetings;
• Participates in weekly High-Risk Committee Meetings, CRO Team Meetings, AROC meetings, and Auspice Meetings with OMH;
• Attends Quarterly OPWDD and Adult Protective Service Meetings;
• Serves as a Director of the regional office's START Team. Attend all START meetings and trainings. Works collaboratively with the START provider and Central Office;
• Reviews and makes determinations for Intensive Respite Rate Applications as needed;
• Participates in Special Projects and assignments as required;
• Serves as a Hospital liaison for the Long Island Region;
• Participates in Administrator on Call (AOC) duties.
Selection Criteria:
• Possess excellent and professional communication, public speaking, writing and organizational skills;
• Ability to initiate and maintain working relationships with others such as families/individuals, advocates, community representatives, voluntary providers, other state and county agencies, DDRO, DDSOO and other OPWDD staff;
• Computer knowledge and ability to maintain databases and monitoring systems;
• Possess excellent supervisory skills;
• Ability to coordinate and participate in requested functions and activities. Such functions may occur during evening hours and weekends.
