Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications Six years’ experience in domestic violence service provision, domestic violence training and/or domestic violence education. A Bachelor’s degree can substitute for four years of experience; a Master’s degree can substitute for five years of experience; a PhD may substitute for six years of specialized experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of domestic violence, workplace violence, dating violence and sexual assault issues, experience in making training or public presentations, and strong writing, speaking, organizational, computer and interpersonal skills are preferred. Preference may be given to candidates who are bi-lingual and those with knowledge of adult learning theory and the instructional design process.
Duties Description Under the supervision of the Director of the Bureau of Family and Victim Resources for the New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence, the incumbent is responsible for the training of state agencies, public entities, and private businesses on the prevention of workplace violence and for the provision of agency programming on the issue of domestic violence and the workplace. Other responsibilities include: working closely with the workplace violence liaisons from other state agencies and authorities and other related programs designed to enhance domestic violence literacy across various entities.
Responsibilities and Duties include but are not limited to:
• Providing Domestic Violence and the Workplace Training sessions for NYS Agency/OPDV liaisons, support staff, security, HR staff, etc.;
• Providing Domestic Violence and the Workplace Training and/or Presentation as requested by NYS agencies for general staff;
• Providing technical assistance to NYS agencies on the issue of domestic violence and the workplace;
• Coordinating and preparing the Bi-Annual Domestic Violence and the Workplace Report;
• Coordinating the annual Domestic Violence Systems Training for the DV service provider community;
• Participating, as necessary, in train-the-trainer programs for community professionals;
• Collaborating with other agency training projects; and
• Other duties as assigned
