Eligible for a lateral transfer, or a 70.1 transfer by having one year of permanent competitive or 55 b/c service in an appropriate title.
NOTE: Candidates who are currently reachable on an appropriate eligible list for the Temporary Assistance Specialist 1 or the PCO in Albany need not submit an application for this posting unless they are applying directly as a result of the transfer qualifications listed above.
Duties Description This position is located within the Policy Unit of the State Supplement Program (SSP) within Employment and Income Support Programs. The SSP is responsible for the monthly disbursement of 672,000 supplemental benefits to eligible New Yorkers in receipt of federal Supplemental Security Income (SSI). This position will be supervised by a Temporary Assistance Specialist 2.
Duties of this position will include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Participate in the development of SSP policy and procedures;
• Develop and deliver training and other presentations;
• Participate in fair hearing processing;
• Develop and revise SSP notices and forms; and
• Draft responses to audits and Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) requests.
Additional Comments A full-time, permanent or contingent permanent appointment will be made. If certified by Civil Service, mandatory reemployment list candidates must be considered first for appointment to this title.
Salary for Trainee 1 is $42,986.
