Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications A current New York State employee eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law; OR

Reachable for appointment from the current Office Assistant 2 eligible list #37-454.

Duties Description Under the general direction of the Licensing Manager and reporting to the Chief Clerk, this incumbent will be responsible for the application process for the Licensing Bureau. The application process consists of entering data into the Bureau’s respective database and imaging or scanning of all files as a part of the Bureau’s electronic repository of documents. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

• Review and process applications for gaming, horse racing, and lottery as necessary.
• Process and research DCJS reports on prospective applicants.
• Process Bureau’s mailings as necessary.
• Enter and maintain the workflow into the Bureau’s respective databases and scan required documents as part of the Bureau’s electronic databases.
• Interact with the public and the Commission’s central staff and regional offices to ensure that all licensing procedures are adhered to.
• Respond to license status requests.

Additional Comments Appointment will be contingent upon completion of a fingerprint background check before an official appointment offer can be made.

Prior Employment Restrictions: The law that established the Commission (Section 107 of New York’s Racing, Pari-Mutuel Wagering and Breeding Law) prohibits any person from being employed by the Commission if, during the period commencing three years prior to employment, such person held any interest in, or employment by, any corporation, association or person engaged in gaming activity with the State.
