Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications This position is open to NYS employees at or above G-29/M-3 who are eligible for transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in an advancement of more than two grade levels or one M-grade level. In order to qualify for Section 52.6 transfer, candidates must have one year of permanent competitive service in an administrative title as defined by Section 52.6.

Preferred Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess superior analytical skills and demonstrate the ability to:
• Develop and defend budget recommendations that are both creative and strategic;
• Assist in overseeing the implementation of Enacted Budget actions and initiatives, which includes identifying next steps and keeping projects on-track;
• Work closely and cooperatively with colleagues in all DOB units, Governor's administration and other State agencies;
• Communicate effectively (both written and oral) to a broad range of audiences;
• Demonstrate thorough knowledge of Division policies and systems; and
• Develop junior staff.

Duties Description The successful candidate will supervise the section responsible for all aspects of budgeting for the Division of State Police, Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services and the Division of Military and Naval Affairs. This assignment offers a broad range of opportunities to assist with advancing the Governor's initiatives that enhance public safety and improve the State’s preparedness for natural and man-made disasters.
