Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be reachable for appointment from the appropriate Civil Service list for this title – appointment made at the Training Specialist Traineeship level. OR

Transfer Opportunity:

One year of permanent competitive service as a Training Specialist 1

eligible for transfer pursuant to Section 52.6 or Section 70.1of the Civil Service Law;
OR
One year of permanent competitive service as an Assistant Training Technician (YS);
OR
Eligible for Section 70.4 Transfer.*

*70.4 Transfer: If you are a State employee with at least one year of permanent competitive service in a title Grade 11 or higher and have a passing score on the PCT or the PMI lists, you may be eligible for appointment to a traineeship leading to the Grade 18.

Duties Description Participate with agency staff in conducting training needs assessments.

Develop training programs for agency staff using the most appropriate
methodolgies

Conduct training sessions using a variety of media, including
classroom training, distance learning and/or technology based training.

Prepare or modify curriculum and course outlines; Arrange for all necessary course materials; Devise methods and conduct evaluations of the
performance and progress of learners.

Collaborate with agency staff and/or other human services agencies to revise existing programs and monitor
effectiveness.

Independently analyze research and make clear
recommendations for various training programs and provide technical
assistance.

Provide facilitation and performance consulting services to th eagency.

Additional duties will be discussed in detail during the interview.

Additional Comments Note: For appointments to the Training Specialist Trainee level, advancement to the Training Specialist 1 is automatic upon successful completion of a two-year traineeship.

Travel required: 25%
