Job Specifics
Duties Description Performs analysis of evidence in the most complex cases.
Recognized as an expert in Toxicology and maintains technical proficiency in and awareness of the latest technical advances.
Provides technical assistance in Toxicology to section management and the Associate Director/QA by assisting with the coordination of audits and QA initiatives.
Coordinates the development, validation, and implementation of new methodologies and/or programs within Toxicology, including the Breath Calibration Program.
Coordinates training of new forensic scientists, staff participating in new or recently modified methodologies, and staff in need of remedial training.
Provides monitoring of technical QA programs within the Toxicology section.
Assumes the duties of a Supervisor of Forensic Services in their absence.
Performs any other reasonable assignments or duties as directed by a Supervisor of Forensic Services-Toxicology and/or Associate Director-Toxicology.
Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor’s Degree in the natural sciences, physical sciences, or forensic science. A degree in forensic science must include a concentration in biology or chemistry and include laboratory work with an emphasis on upper-level coursework in chemistry, biology, or other natural/physical sciences. All transcripts will be reviewed to determine eligibility.
AND
A minimum of six (6) years satisfactory experience performing the duties of a Forensic Scientist or its equivalent in another laboratory.
OR
A Master’s Degree in the natural sciences, physical sciences, or forensic science may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
Minimum qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
