Job Specifics

Duties Description The Medicaid Integrity Specialist 2 will serve as a supervisor in the Managed care Organization Reporting Unit (MCORU) within the Division of Medicaid Investigations (DMI). Medicaid Managed Care Organizations (MMCO) are contractually obligated to refer to OMIG all identified Fraud, Waste, and Abuse referrals. OMIG is in turn contractually obligated to notify the plan within 30 days whether the referral is being returned to the plan to take action, or that the referral is being accepted by OMIG, and the plan can’t take any further action. Managing this unit includes:
• Supervise a team of four Medicaid Integrity Specialists in processing Fraud, Waste and Abuse Referrals submitted by Medicaid Managed Care Organizations.
• Ensure MMCO referrals are processed and assessed expeditiously, prepared for weekly internal triage with supporting claims data, and when internal or external clearance is needed, obtain clearance within the appropriate time frame so that OMIG fulfills its contractual obligations.
• Receive and process other MMCO reports and review for completeness.
• Ensure all information is tracked accurately within internal case tracking systems.
• Coordinate with other internal and external stakeholders.
• Process requests for clearance from MMCOs and coordinating within DMI and OMIG to determine if clearance may be granted.
• Maintain unit policies and procedures.
• Draft and provide reports for use by managers for internal and external reporting.

Minimum Qualifications To be eligible for appointment, candidates must be reachable on the OMIG promotional list for Medicaid Integrity Specialist 2, OR be a current New York State employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent service in a title deemed eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 or 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidate should possess strong organizational skills and a keen eye for detail. Candidate should be able to interpret contractual language as it applies to assessing referrals received from MMCOs.
