Job Specifics

Duties Description Assist with the operation and maintenance of DEC facilities, including buildings, flood control projects, wildlife management areas, fishing access sites, and state forests. Will be required to operate equipment and power tools safely and efficiently.
Required to operate motor vehicles and haul various trailers.

Candidate may be required to perform a variety of tasks within the buildings and grounds maintenance trades including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, painting, sawyer, mowing, landscaping, equipment operation, and snow removal.

May be required to operate and assist with maintenance on diverse types of motor equipment to include but not limited to dump trucks, bulldozers, excavators, loaders, mowers, tractors, roller/compactors, skid steers, chain saws, road graders, snowplows, and motorboats.

Will be required to assist with office tasks such as work orders, vehicle reports, invoicing, etc. Provide written documentation of work performed, as well as purchasing, fuel usage, mileage reporting, etc. May be required to supervise and train other seasonal Operations and Green Thumb staff as needed.

Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services. When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.
