Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in the plumbing trade under a skilled journey-level worker which would provide training equivalent to that given in an apprenticeship program. Apprenticeship training in a trade or training gained by the completion of technical courses in a trade at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Duties Description Under the direction of the Park Manager, the incumbent will perform a variety of duties including but not limited to the following:

Will perform journey level work in plumbing and semi-skilled carpentry, masonry, and electrical tasks for rehabilitation, construction, maintenance and repairs at State Parks using the normal tools of the trade. Meeting professional standards common to the plumbing and construction trades, the Trades Generalist will lay out work following blueprints, specifications, oral or written instruction; diagnose problems; draw rough sketches or prepare plans to scale; make detailed estimates for costs, including time and materials for various projects and order supplies as needed; be responsible for overall coordination and execution of projects. The incumbent is expected to act independently with a minimum of direct supervision, and to be able to assign, supervise, review, train and evaluate the work of lower level employees. During winter months, the employee will assist in snow and ice control and operate snow removal equipment. The incumbent is also expected to assist in other areas of park operations as directed.

Additional Comments Operational Needs:
Candidate must be available to work weekends and holidays. Ability to perform medium to heavy physical labor tasks. Ability to supervise others. Ability to communicate effectively and to read and comprehend written material. Candidate must possess a valid New York State Driver’s License as a term and condition of employment.
