Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Two years of experience in plumbing, steamfitting, electrical, air- conditioning or refrigeration work, under the supervision of a journey level tradesperson, or completion of a two year technical school course in heating, refrigeration or air?conditioning.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Possession of Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification.
-Experience with Building Management systems.
-Certifications earned, completed relevant training, or other documentation that illustrates depth in this trade.

Duties Description
Position Summary:
The incumbent must possess basic knowledge of mechanical equipment used in building HVAC and refrigeration systems and demonstrate proficiency in the safe use of hand and power tools. Candidates must be able to assist with the installation, repair and constructions tasks in the mechanical, building, motor equipment, HVAC, refrigeration and electrical trades.

The selected candidate will assist journey-level trades diagnose, troubleshoot and repair control systems for all types of coolers, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioning units and systems, humidifiers, compressors, ventilators, cooling towers and other similar and related equipment; and in the completion of complex projects and installations. They may function as a lead worker over Maintenance Helpers or Laborers.

Candidate must have the ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, twist, and work at elevated heights using ladders and scaffolds and restricted access areas such as air handling units for extended periods of time.

Candidates must detail their qualifications and submit appropriate documentation with their application.

Successful candidates in the position must be able to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors and the campus community. This position may require you to work in a team so the candidate should have strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. The candidate must possess and have proven positive customer service skills; must also possess good listening skills and be able to understand and follow written and/or oral instructions.

Since the activities of other employees depend upon the availability of the employee in this position, reliable attendance is a factor that will be considered when filling this vacancy.

This position requires traveling within and between campuses. A valid license to operate a motor vehicle in NYS is preferred, or candidate should otherwise demonstrate his/her capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position.

Incumbents in this position must be willing and able to respond to after hour calls resulting from equipment and system failures that may arise at any time of day or any day of the week. The incumbent may be required to work during adverse weather conditions to ensure continuous operation of all BMS and HVAC systems.
