Minimum Qualifications • Must be a US citizen or foreign national eligible to work in the United States
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must be currently attending a New York State college, university or graduate program, or be a resident of New York State attending a college, university or graduate program outside of New York State
• Must have completed a minimum of one (1) year as a student at a degree-granting two or four-year College or University (completion of one year's worth of academic credits over a more extended period of time may qualify part-time students for participation in the Student Intern Program); or a currently enrolled graduate student or accepted in a graduate degree program
• Must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0, or equivalent to a C
Preferred qualifications:
• Senior level college student
• Degree Concentration in Business Administration, Communication Studies, Information Technology, Liberal Arts, or Public Administration
Duties Description Under the direction on the Communications Manager, the Communications Intern will reside within the Chief Public Information Office and will work on projects that help drive the Office of Information Technology Service's (ITS) internal and external communication and marketing strategy, and help improve the identity and brand of ITS. This includes a variety of activities including, but not be limited to:
• Event Planning activities for both internal and external events;
• Arranging internal meetings, including securing meeting space, sending out invitations, monitoring attendance, event logistics and set up, and event follow up;
• Coordinating external events, including working with event partners and communicating opportunities with ITS employees;
• Monitoring event approval request forms for ITS employees seeking to speak or present at external events.
• Creating communications and marketing materials such as newsletters and brochures;
• Writing content for a variety of communication channels, including print and online;
• Creating PowerPoint presentations and scripts;
• Updating websites and messages for social media sites.
Preferred Skills:
• Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience providing editorial support
• Fast-paced work under tight deadlines
• Experience developing written materials
• Excellent written & oral skills
Additional Comments Fingerprinting will be required of hired candidates. Selected candidates who are new or returning to NYS service may be required to pay for fingerprinting fees.
